PNT is Beneficial for People of All Ages
Through the Life Span
It has been discovered that PNT has significant benefit for children, adults, and elderly persons. Dr. Stephen Kaufman wrote, “Pain Neutralization Technique (PNT) is completely different from previous methods for treating trigger points, e.g., ischemic compression, myofascial release, massage, strain counterstrain, etc. In fact, the aim here is not even to treat a trigger point at all but to eliminate it. PNT does not use mechanical force to treat trigger points, as do other methods, but uses neurological reflexes to turn them off. If the reflex is correct for the involved point, that point will not be tender within a few seconds. The pain will be gone. Clients are consistently amazed that tender areas are immediately pain-free. Even though most trigger points will respond, occasionally, a client's symptoms don't completely improve. Not all pain is due to trigger points; eliminating the trigger point will often, but not always, eliminate the symptom. Many clients do things that perpetuate their trigger points."1
On the Job
Job stress has been identified as a serious health care issue that relates to decreased productivity, decreased job satisfaction, increased work related injury, errors and absenteeism. Clients reported that PNT is a good tool for reducing work stress.
Stress, Depression, and Immunity
PNT and massage therapy studies have shown positive results in boosting the body's own natural cellular immune response, decreasing pain by pumping up the body's levels of endorphins and decreasing the blood levels of cortisol which is a hormone related to stress. These beneficial results are proving helpful for people with critical illnesses like cancer and HIV infection and for those who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.
PNT therapy may be used at sporting events to help athletes’ performance and to help prevent injury. PNT may improve muscle recovery and decrease muscle soreness after exertion.
Pregnancy and Childbirth
Receiving PNT therapy is safe and beneficial during pregnancy. Many women enjoy the skilled care of a PNT therapist to help to alleviate back, neck, and shoulder pain associated with changes in the body during pregnancy. The general benefits of increased circulation and enhanced well-being are valuable therapeutic effects.

How will PNT therapy benefit me?
With professional PNT therapy you can experience relief from muscular tension and pain, receive increased range of motion and a reduction of mental stress levels. PNT is a natural healing process that can deliver both physical and emotional benefits. Treatments are specifically tailored to meet your needs.
How often will I need treatments?
Your body can let you know. Some people require only a few sessions to treat a specific problem, while others become regular users of PNT therapy as both proactive and preventative healthcare. PNT can help maintain good muscle tone, flexibility, and help correct muscular injuries.
How old does a person need to be to receive PNT therapy?
Any age. PNT therapy treatments are effective from childhood until palliative care stages.
Which regions of my body receive therapy?
The therapist will ask what you want to get out of the session. You will also be asked to describe any chronic problems that you are experiencing. This will determine the appropriate regions of your body that need attention.
Will I experience muscle soreness following a PNT therapy treatment?
Most people report feeling very relaxed, and often experience significant relief from aches, pains, and stress after a PNT session. However, some people experience mild muscle soreness which may last a day or two. Once the soreness is gone, they often notice heightened energy levels and an increased range of motion.
I'm not sure I'm comfortable with a stranger touching me.
It is not uncommon for first-time clients to be apprehensive with the personal nature of PNT therapy. Most clients lose this apprehension within the first few minutes of treatment. PNT therapists are trained professionals who respect your feelings and go out of their way to allow you to feel comfortable.
Do I have to take off all of my clothes?
One of the keys to the success of your PNT therapy session is your ability to relax and feel comfortable. Therefore, the decision is yours. PNT therapy does not require the removal of clothes.
